Maps, DiDi & Metro Navigation in China

Navigate Chinese cities by pairing a locally useful map with ride-hailing and metro tools, while keeping addresses available in Chinese.

A pin alone is not enough—entrance, level, station exit, and Chinese place name often matter.

The short answer

Pair a locally useful map with metro and ride-hailing tools, then save every hotel, station, airport, and major sight in Chinese as well as English. Check the exact entrance, station exit, building level, and pickup point before moving; the last few hundred meters cause more mistakes than the long-distance route.

The last 300 meters

Most navigation friction happens near the destination. Look for entrance notes, building levels, station exits, and landmarks before you start walking.

Ride-hailing checks

Use official in-app pickup points, compare the plate, and avoid accepting an unrelated driver's offer outside the platform flow.

Common failure points

  • Assuming the closest-looking entrance works in a vertically layered station or mall.
  • Showing a driver only an English nickname instead of a Chinese address.
